Overlooking the plain of Alsace and 10 minutes by car from La Villa Avril, the Castle of Haut Koenigsbourg is the most famous fortified castle in Alsace and one of the most visited monuments. The Haut Koenigsbourg castle was completely restored at the request of Emperor William II from 1900, which makes it original and attractive, despite the controversies surrounding the restoration. Villa Avril is located in the middle of the Alsace wine road. It meanders over 170 km from the North to the South of Alsace, following the colors of its vines and its 7 grape varieties (Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot noir, gris or blanc, Muscat and Sylvaner).

On its hillsides, dungeons and castles emerge, while the villages with their colorful and flowery houses nestle behind their ramparts. To the south, you will visit Ribeauvillé, Riquewirh, Colmar, Kaysesberg and Eguisheim. To the north you will find Barr, Dambach la Ville but also Obernai (20 minutes) and Strasbourg (40 minutes)
